Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 3 Gets Exciting Filming & Release Date Update

Avatar: The Last Airbender star Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Fire Lord Ozai in the Netflix series, has shared a major production update on Season 3. In a recent interview, the Lost alum opened up about the filming schedule of the third installment in the live-action rendition of the fan-favorite animated series, providing fans with a rough estimate as to when the season could premiere in the process.

Daniel Dae Kim reveals Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 3 is ‘a third of the way through’ filming

While speaking with ScreenRant‘s Liam Crowley, Daniel Dae Kim shed light on where the Avatar: The Last Airbender team is with respect to the shooting of Season 3. After stating that the crew is busy filming the already confirmed third installment of the Netflix series, Kim revealed that they have already shot one-third of the highly anticipated edition.

“We’re in the middle of shooting it right now. In fact, I just flew in from Vancouver last night from shooting,” the veteran actor told Crowley when asked about an update regarding Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 3. He then added, “Where are we? We’re about a third of the way through.”

Based on the 2005 Nickelodeon show of the same name, Netflix’s live-action take on Avatar: The Last Airbender first premiered on the streaming platform in 2024. Following its airing, Netflix wasted no time in renewing the series for two more seasons. Production on the subsequent installments of Avatar started soon afterward, with Netflix announcing in May 2025 that filming on the sequel season had wrapped up.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender crew jumped straight into filming Season 3, which is one-third way through completion at the time of writing, as per Daniel Dae Kim. Netflix has yet to assign an official release date to both Season 2 and Season 3. However, current filming schedules of the two editions suggest that they could see the light of day sometime in late 2026.
