In the build-up to the upcoming Alien: Earth series, showrunner Noah Hawley has revealed that the show will introduce fans to a horde of new monsters. Hawley, who is overseeing the first live-action small-screen outing in the beloved science-fiction franchise, noted in a recent interview that they intend to up the ante in the horror aspect with the otherworldly creatures set to debut in the said show.
Noah Hawley says new Alien: Earth monsters will give xenomorphs ‘a run for their money’
While speaking with ComicBook.com, Noah Hawley answered queries about whether the iconic xenomorphs will be the scariest monsters in his Alien: Earth series.
“That depends on what grosses you out the most,” Hawley said, before adding, “I think we’re giving them a run for their money, certainly.” Despite confirming that the series will feature monsters with arguably more terrifying traits than the alien species fans have loved and feared since 1979, Hawley reassured everyone that Alien: Earth does not forget about xenomorphs. “But their value is added. They are scary in the egg stage, the facehugger stage, and the chest burster stage. They got something for everyone, those xenomorphs,” the renowned writer/director stated.
Hinting at what fans can expect from Alien: Earth, other than a fresh bunch of monsters, Hawley remarked, “You bring these creatures into our natural environment. You introduce an apex predator to another balanced ecosystem. I’m really interested to see how that plays out. I think you saw it in the last trailer, the iconic shot of the xenomorph in the cave system. You got a visceral response to it, to feel like now they’re here [on Earth].”
Alien: Earth is on track to premiere its first two episodes on August 12, 2025, with the remaining six chapters of its eight-episode roster scheduled to come out on a weekly basis.
