A newly surfaced set video shows Jon Bernthal in action as Frank Castle/The Punisher, offering a glimpse at a brutal fight sequence for Marvel’s upcoming Special Presentation. Captured during filming, the footage teases Castle’s violent return following the events of Daredevil: Born Again.

New set footage from The Punisher Special Presentation shows Jon Bernthal back as Frank Castle, engaging in intense hand-to-hand combat and wielding a baseball bat. The behind-the-scenes video, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @_DaredevilShots on August 4, 2025, captures a sequence involving school buses and brutal close-quarters action. Bernthal wears an olive green sweatshirt in the set footage.
In another leaked scene, Castle guns down enemies from a vehicle before storming into Ma Gnucci’s restaurant. The sequences draw from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s Welcome Back, Frank, a storyline where Castle targets the Gnucci crime family.
Set photos confirm Ma Gnucci’s inclusion, though her actor remains unidentified. Unlike her comic counterpart, who loses all her limbs, this version of Ma sits in a wheelchair with all limbs intact.
The Punisher returns after Castle escaped captivity from Mayor Wilson Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again. That series returns in March 2026, but it’s unclear whether Castle will appear again. Bernthal and Reinaldo Marcus Green co-wrote the Special, with Green directing. The story continues Castle’s war against the Anti-Vigilante Task Force.
Bernthal confirmed the tone remains faithful to the character’s origins. “It’s going to be dark; Frank has no interest in breaking out the darkness… It will not be Punisher-lite, I promise you that.”
Disney+ will premiere The Punisher Special Presentation in 2026. Bernthal will also return as Frank Castle in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
