During the same aforementioned panel, more details were unveiled about the Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 plot. The series is set between Season 1 and 2 of the original series, given it will have an 1985 setting.
Apart from the original characters, there would be a new addition to the roster named Nikki. She is a strong and mohawk-sporting girl who will help battle “new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town.”
Additionally, Eric Robles said the show initially took inspiration from classic ’80s Saturday morning cartoons like Masters of the Universe, Scooby-Doo, Dungeons & Dragons, and The Real Ghostbusters.
As things evolved, the team eventually leaned more into the CGI style of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Arcane. They also gave it the spooky vibe of old Goosebumps covers and character designs by Meybis Ruiz Cruz, known for Entergalactic. (via The Hollywood Reporter)
