Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Trailer Looks For Answers

The Red Angel has landed. At New York Comic Con, the cast of Star Trek: Discovery was on hand for the first trailer from season 3. Last season on Discovery, Michael Burnham and the crew made a one way trip to the future. Almost 950 years in the future, to be exact. This is the farthest anyone has gone in the Star Trek timeline, and the future isn’t what it used to be.

In the new trailer, Michael has apparently spent quite a long time by herself. During her year of solitude in the future, Michael has been experimenting with her look. But perhaps the most alarming moment for Michael may be when she realizes that the Federation may be long gone. The Utopian ideals of galactic harmony may be over, but there are at least a few individuals who want to keep the dream alive.

Naturally, Michael won’t be alone for long. The rest of the crew eventually shows up and reunites with Michael. However, there’s an uncertain road ahead. If the Federation is no longer a galactic power, then where will the Discovery find safe harbor? There are new threats awaiting them in the future, and their technology may be hopelessly outdated by comparison.

Star Trek: Discovery season 3 will premiere on CBS All Access in 2020.
