Kevin Feige on Captain America and Avengers

September 06, 2010

Filming in the UK, the Red Skull and gearing up for Whedon's Avengers

We haven't heard a lot from Kevin Feige since Comic-Con a few weeks back, but Total Film had a chance to talk to him, and though there wasn't a lot of new information, he did get into why they decided to shoot Captain America: The First Avenger in the United Kingdom, talked about Hugo Weaving in "Red Skull effect" and said that they've hired the crew for Joss Whedon's The Avengers with plans to start shooting next year.

On shooting in the UK:

Well it’s that two thirds of the film actually takes place in Europe and there are many scenes in and around London. So it just made sense that we film it where the majority of the film takes place. Having been here now for almost two and a half months prepping and twenty-some days into shooting.

On Hugo Weaving as the Skull:

Hugo Weaving has been in the Red Skull effect, in costume for a couple of weeks now and it’s a hell of a lot of fun ...  and a rather frightening villain.

A brief Avengers update:

There’s not much I can tell you but Joss [Whedon] is hard at work with the script and we’ve hired most of our crew. They’re looking to design and build and prepare for when we start filming next year.

You can read the full interview over at Total Film.

GEESH! Bash tell us how you really feel.

This is just my opinion but I don't think the character in itself matters as much as how he comes off on screen. I say that because few people knew who Iron-Man was until he hit the screen but RDJ's performance in that role made Iron-Man practically a household name.

And Although Iron-Man 2 could have been better, Marvel is so far from falling off the word 'gravity' isn't even in there vocabulary.

Not Much, But I Like
All of this is expected, but that just means things are going according to plan. Anyone hating on this needs to stop, as you have NO material to hate on.

I do agree with Bash on one count. Sometimes I do think they could put a little more thought into the fight scenes. I like 'em but I also feel there could be a little more to them. At the least slow 'em down a touch so I can tell what's going on.

Oh, I'm psyched at Weaving playing the Red Skull. All they need to do is shave his head and hit him with a coat of red latex paint and he's perfect.
