January Jones Joins X-Men: First Class

Will star as Emma Frost, the White Queen

January Jones is now confirmed to have stepped into the X-Men: First Class role of Emma Frost, reports Variety.

Contenders for the part have recently been rumored to include Rosamund Pike and Alice Eve, but Jones appears to have emerged as the top choice for the role.

Frost was introduced in "Uncanny X-Men" #129 in 1980, created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne as The White Queen, a prominent member of the Hellfire Club, a group of wealthy mutants who used their power and powers to confound the X-Men, playing a key role in "The Dark Phoenix Saga." Later, Frost formed her own school for mutants, and her own team called the Hellions, before finally being brought into the X-Men fold by Charles Xavier (and writer Grant Morrison) and becoming a key member of the group for the past few years. A younger version of the character appeared briefly in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Tahyna Tozzi.

Zoe Kravitz has also been cast as Angel Salvadore (not the same as Angel from X-Men: The Last Stand) while Bill Bilner will play Magneto as a young boy.

They join James McAvoy, Rose Byrne, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi, Kevin Bacon, Jason Flemyng and Oliver Platt in the Marvel Comics adaptation, set to hit theaters on June 3, 2011.

I guess that instead of X-Men: First Class they can just call this a load of characters - I am getting the feeling that we are going to get another Wolverine movie here where they throw in any old character with no regard to who/what they are or how they fit into the continuity. I realize that it would be hard to be too close to the original source material as it was written 50 years ago and things have changed so much, but at least try and keep the spirit of the characters and concepts. Oh well - another Netflix at best.

How many more cast members does this film need? It's going to be like X3 of Wolverine, just a collection of characters spewing out powers for no discernible reason. The whole movie truly only needed 4-6 characters. THAT'S it!

WTF are these people doing to these movies??? These "filmmakers" gratify themselves all over some script and use the comics to which it's based on for the clean-up. This would explain why they've never even read the comics- the pages are stuck together.
