Runaways to Start Production Next January

The film adaptation of the Brian K. Vaughan series gets a start date

Runaways will go into production January through July of next year, reports Production Weekly.

The film, based on the original series by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, takes place in the Marvel Universe and deals with a group of teens who go on the run after discovering that their parents are supervillains. The series takes place in and around Los Angeles and, presumably, the film will follow suite.

To be directed by Peter Sollett, Runaways could start making casting announcements in the very near future.

Last year, Marvel released the theme song to the series written and performed by editor Nick Lowe. Check out the music video below:

Runaways has cult status film written all over it if done correctly. It shouldn't be kid-a-fide or watered down. It should be personally in tone of the buffy the vampire tv show... light hearted but deep and emotional at times.

it really could be this generations "goonies"
