Latest X-Men Origins: Wolverine Updates
The leak, Hood vs. Rothman and UK posters
|
It's been an interesting week for 20th Century Fox and its May 1st release, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. As you may know by now, an unfinished workprint of the film was leaked onto the internet. We've debated whether we should even mention the leak, as it in turn gets people to search for it, but with the news so widespread we're pretty sure you've heard about it elsewhere by now. We do think, however, that it's important to post Fox's official statement on the matter:
Last night, a stolen, incomplete and early version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was posted illegally on websites. It was without many effects and had missing scenes and temporary sound and music. We immediately contacted the appropriate legal authorities and had it removed. We forensically mark our content so we can identify sources that make it available or download it. The source of the initial leak and any subsequent postings will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law — the courts have handed down significant criminal sentences for such acts. The FBI and MPAA are also actively investigating the crime. We are encouraged by the support of fansites condemning piracy and this illegal posting and pointing out that such theft undermines the enormous efforts of the filmmakers and actors and, above all, hurts fans of the film. In related news, reports came out last year that director Gavin Hood and Fox Studio head Tom Rothman clashed about the film, but Hood tells Risky Biz Blog that it was never like that. You can watch the video below: Also, we've received the UK Quad and poster for "Wolverine" which you can view here. Source: Superhero Hype!

The movie is awsome! I just hope they change the Transformers music that comes out. It feels like your watching Transformers. Music does play an important role in movies. Legend for example. Great music by Tangerine Dream really made the movie cool. Anyways I ve already seen Wolverine twice and am watching it for the third time as I type. I am still going to watch it in theaters but I am just not as hyped. Now to look for Transformers 2 leaked footage. Report Abuse

They only thing unfinished in the film was the Special FX, but the story and "film" is in place. If you get a chance and are a TRUE Marvel comic fan of Wolvie and Deadpool. You will more than likely not like this film. Watch the rough cut if you get a chance and see for yourself. As a HUGE Wolvie fan...i didn't care for it at all and will not pay my money to go see it for how they RAPED Deadpool like they did. Even for a "loose interpretation" it was bad. He was more like Amazo than Deadpool. Just puttin it out there. Report Abuse

meh, i don't care enough about the Deadpool character to warrant me not watching this movie in the theaters, will probably be the same for the general movie watching audience who don't know or care who Deadpool is. Report Abuse

@ Douche_Bag:
If stealing is the American dream, you need a reality check. As far as I'm concerned, the American Justice System says otherwise. You will be prosecuted and rendered guilty under the law. The real American dream is about freedom and rights.
@ Super Ninja:
Im not targeting you, but you said your going to watch the movie three times online without paying a cent. Well perhaps you should watch it in theater three times as well if you like it that much. Report Abuse

WOW Gavin and Tom "debating" on what to put in the film and Gavin Hood's "take" on WOLVERINE for the fans? Ridiculous, GAVIN! TOM! GIVE THE FANS WHAT THEY WANT not what YOU believe to be a good film! I have director and writters "TAKES" on what they think the film should be. Here's a hint read more of Chris Claremont's take on Wolverine. He's a fantastic writter and wrote several stories involving Wolverine and the X-Men for over 25years. Check it out. Report Abuse

It's messed up that it's been leeked but FOX has been messing up the Marvel heroes as well so who's to blame? If the unfinished version is awesome people will see it in theaters. It's that simple. Report Abuse
