Spider-Man 3 The Game Preview

Coinciding with the theatrical release of Spider-Man 3 on May 4, 2007, Activision will launch its 8th “Spider-Man” game. The offering will bring game-play and movie experiences together with some new options not found in previous incarnations.

Chris Archer, the game’s executive producer, who has been working on “Spider-Man” for years, explains, “We designed the game around the idea that we really wanted to give the player ultimate freedom, and it’s really difficult. We also wanted to give the player the cinematic experiences, but then it’s not playable. So what we did was we made this free open environment where you choose what you want to do and then we brought in these movie-like moments and made them playable, which is a really fun thing.”

Sprinkled throughout are “epic cinematic moments” where you can play through an actual movie scenario. Across the board, the game draws heavily on the movie cinematography accompanied by a rousing soundtrack unique to the game.

Players will now have several options on how to play. Feel like swinging around Manhattan just for kicks? That’s cool. Or you could choose to face many a nemesis: New Goblin, Sandman, Venom or several other non-movie villains whose identities are currently under wraps. Further, you can choose to fight as faithful Spider-Man, his alter ego Peter Parker or as the new darker, angrier, more powerful Black Suit Spidey.

Activision has provided Superhero Hype! with 10 new screenshots from the game, which you can view below. The game’s official website has also been updated so that members of “Spidey’s Web” can download a news widget which allows fans to get news updates sent to their desktops. Fans can sign-up for “Spidey’s Web” through February 27, after that it will be open to only those who pre-order.

Spider-Man 3 The Game will be available on eight platforms: DS, GBA, PS2, PS3, PC, PSP, Wii, and Xbox 360.
