One of the most exciting reveals to come out of last week’s Playstation Showcase was the announcement of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, a high-definition remaster of the acclaimed Star Wars RPG currently in development for the Playstation 5. The original game memorably introduced several new characters into the galaxy far, far away, many of whom became instant fan-favorites. And at least one member of the original voice cast is coming back to reprise her role.
Lucasfilm Games is developing the KOTOR remake with Aspyr Media. And while speaking with StarWars.com, Asypr’s Ryan Treadwell confirmed that Jennifer Hale will return to voice Bastila Shan. Treadwell also noted that that was indeed Hale’s voice in the game’s announcement teaser.
“We all think the world of Jennifer,” said Treadwell. “She is an amazing talent and immediately slipped back into the role of Bastila when she came to help us with the teaser trailer.”

In the original KOTOR, Bastila was a Jedi Knight who wielded a double-bladed yellow lightsaber. She was also skilled in the art of battle meditation, a Force power that boosted her allies’ morale while eroding that of her enemies during a fight. Hale briefly reprised her role in the game’s 2004 sequel, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords, and also returned for Star Wars: The Old Republic as both Bastila and one of her descendants, Satele Shan.
Bastila wasn’t the only new character who resonated with fans when Knights of the Old Republic first hit stores in 2003. However, Treadwell declined to share which other members of the original cast might be returning for the remake.
“I do think that you’re going to see some other familiar voices return,” added Treadwell. “But that’s probably as deep as we’re gonna go on that one right now.”
