Two years ago, John Paesano created a rousing musical backdrop for Spider-Man PS4 that actually stacked up pretty well against the work of Danny Elfman, Michael Giacchino, and other composers who have soundtracked the wallcrawler’s exploits on the big screen. So it makes sense that Insomniac Games would want him to work his magic again with Miles Morales’ upcoming solo adventure. Now, a few days before the game hits stores, players can hear his contributions a little early. Paesano’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales score is currently streaming on all major platforms.
Paesano is far from a stranger to the Marvel Universe. In addition to Spider-Man PS4, he also composed the music for Netflix’s Daredevil as well as The Defenders, the latter of which netted him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. More recently, Paesano scored Showtime’s Penny Dreadful: City of Angels and is also working on Amazon’s Invincible series.
Looking at the tracklist, some of Paesano’s contributions hint at what players will experience when the game arrives this Thursday. We’ve already seen footage of the “Rhino Rampage,” but “Spider-Training” seems to confirm that we’ll be getting at least one stage where Peter Parker teaches Miles some crucial tricks of the spider-trade à la Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
The album features more than just Paesano’s orchestral arrangements. Fans can also listen to “I’m Ready,” a new song from Jaden Smith. Previously, Smith’s “Way Up” appeared on the soundtrack for Into the Spider-Verse in 2018. It’s also worth noting that the soundtrack also boasts two new songs from rapper Lecrae. However, those tracks aren’t available to stream yet.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available for PS4 and PS5 on November 12.
