Star Wars: Battlefront II Gets a Celebration Edition

Two years ago Electronic Arts released Star Wars: Battlefront II, and it had an infamously bumpy launch. However, it’s grown into something special with its consistent, free updates. Now, EA wants to celebrate with a special edition of the game, just in time for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Tomorrow, the Celebration Edition of Star Wars: Battlefront II will be available for $39.99. It will feature the base game and all of its updates, along with these items:

  • 25 Hero Appearances, including six Legendary Appearances, plus one appearance each for Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren inspired by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
  • 125 Trooper and Reinforcement Appearances
  • 100 Hero and Trooper Emotes and Voice Lines
  • 70 Hero and Trooper Victory Poses.

Those that want to upgrade their current version of Star Wars: Battlefront II will be able to do so for $24.99. It’s also completely optional. This will lead in to the latest update for the game, which will revolve around Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. According to the official Battlefront blog, the free update will introduce a new, unnamed jungle planet. It will be available in Co-Op and Heroes vs. Villains mode, as part of the latest map rotation.

The update will also bring new reinforcements, including the introduction of the Infiltrator Sith trooper of the First Order, complete in red Stormtrooper armor. There will also be a new Jet Trooper and additional “Gunner” and “Spy” units not yet detailed.

Most of the content will be ready for download on December 17, but the jungle planet won’t be ready until December 20 — the launch date of Rise of Skywalker.

EA also has a big update planned for Star Wars: Battlefront II in January. “Capital Supremacy” will finally make its debut, with two new capital ships to bring down or defend. These include the Resistance’s MC85 and the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer. Additionally, two new Heroes will join the fray — a fully playable BB-8; and his dark counterpart, BB-9E.

More Battlefront II updates will arrive in 2020.
