Netflix has released a trailer for its upcoming Sherlock Holmes-esque Spanish limited series. The Final Problem is based on the successful novel of the same name by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. The limited series is set to premiere on the streamer this September.
The synopsis reads, “13 guests are stranded at an isolated hotel on a small island near Mallorca after a storm cuts off all access. When an English tourist is found dead, and her apparent suicide is revealed to be murder, retired actor Basil, who once portrayed Sherlock Holmes on the big screen, is drawn into the investigation.”
What is Netflix’s The Final Problem about?
The movie’s premise combines mystery with thriller in a period drama. As stated in the official synopsis, the trailer opens with the death of a resident named Elisa Mander at a secluded hotel. Initially, this death is suspected to be a suicide.
Until Basil, another guest and retired Sherlock Holmes actor, asks, “Would you put on makeup if you intended to hang yourself?” When this suicide is revealed to be a murder, Basil once again portrays Sherlock Holmes, but in a real situation this time.
Every member stranded in the hotel eventually becomes a suspect. The more Basil dives into the murder investigation, the more complicated it gets. As people keep taunting him for being “just an actor,” he must find the main culprit behind the murder.
The Final Problem is a thriller loaded with secrets, mystery, and unexpected twists. It will air on Netflix as a four-episode limited series. It is directed by Félix Viscarret. Alberto Macías, Carlos Molinero, and Marisol Farré were the screenwriters.
