Ultron has officially made its way back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The MCU supervillain was spotted in a recent D23 video.
In a recent update shared by the X account @PoppedNews, a brand-new D23 video confirmed Ultron’s return. As the clip played, Jack Spader’s Ultron can be seen glitching at the VisionQuest booth. The tease only gave a small glimpse of the villain’s face, which was half human and half robotic. By the end, the display glitches, revealing Ultron in its human form.
Ultron was initially introduced as a villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Taking over the machines, the artificial intelligence built by none other than Tony Stark threatened to wipe out all of humanity. Such a crisis called for the Earth’s mightiest heroes to come together and negate the threat.
What else do we know about Marvel’s VisionQuest show?
Marvel’s VisionQuest will be a TV series that completes the WandaVision trilogy. WandaVision, which was released in 2021, was followed by its second iteration, Agatha All Along.
The plot of VisionQuest is expected to follow the incidents of WandaVision. Towards the end of the show, the White Vision, portrayed by Paul Bettany, seemed to be in a confused state of mind. While he was having difficulty fathoming some incidents from his past life, the new series will see Ultron making its mark once again.
Another interesting aspect connecting Ultron and Vision is that the former might be the latter’s father. Back in the Age of Ultron, it was Ultron for whom Bettany’s Vision got its body. However, as of now, Marvel has not provided any confirmed details about Ultron’s exact role in the series.
The comeback of Ultron is part of the creative plan to bring back the artificial intelligences that have featured in the MCU movies thus far. For example, F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and more are expected to return.
