A brand-new animated special, LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian, has dropped its official trailer online. The upcoming release will offer a lighthearted, comedic retelling of the hit live-action series, complete with fan-favorite characters and returning voice talent from the original cast.
Disney+ released the trailer on Friday ahead of a special screening at D23. The animated project will revisit all three seasons of The Mandalorian in a new format. It will also bring back several actors who voiced characters in the live-action series.
The official synopsis reads, “The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (voiced by Gavin Hammon) and his young apprentice Grogu.”

The trailer delivers a funny LEGO spin on Din Djarin and Grogu’s journey across the galaxy. High-ranking Bounty Hunters’ Guild magistrate Greef Karga (voiced by Carl Lumbly) narrates the footage as it highlights pivotal moments from the series, including Mando’s initial encounter with Grogu and battle encounters with Imperial remnants. The trailer also turns IG-11’s repeated attempts to self-destruct into a running joke.
Additionally, a LEGO version of Luke Skywalker appears to offer Jedi training, humorously trying to convince Mando that he is “kind of a big deal.”
The voice cast also includes Gavin Hammon as The Mandalorian and David Acord as Grogu. Amy Sedaris, Bill Burr, Katee Sackhoff, Giancarlo Esposito and Rosario Dawson also return as familiar characters.
Other returning voices include Taika Waititi, Temuera Morrison, Timothy Olyphant and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee. Chris Buckley directs the special, with Michael Price writing the script.
LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian premieres exclusively on Disney+ on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
