Marvel Studios is finally dropping one of its highly anticipated TV projects in the form of a new Marvel Television Special Presentation. As of today, Jon Bernthal‘s first TV special for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, titled The Punisher: One Last Kill, is now officially available to stream on Disney+.
What do we know about Disney+’s The Punisher: One Last Kill special?
The Punisher: One Last Kill was directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Bernthal. In the special, The Walking Dead vet reprises his fan-favorite role as Frank Castle/The Punisher. This serves as his second appearance in the MCU after Daredevil: Born Again Season 1. After the TV special, he is set to star in his first MCU movie in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will arrive in theaters on July 31, 2026.
“As Frank Castle searches for meaning beyond revenge, an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight,” reads the logline.
The TV special also stars Jason R. Moore, Chelsea Brea, Colton Hill, Jamal Lloyd Johnson, Dominick Mancino, and more. Executive producers were Bernthal, Green, Sana Amanat, Kevin Feige, Brad Winderbaum, and Louis D’Esposito. The creative team also included editor Melissa Lawson Cheung, director of photography Robert Elswit, composer Kris Bowers, production designer Michael Shaw, and costume designer Emily Gunshor.
In a previous interview, Bernthal described The Punisher: One Last Kill as “the most psychologically complex, darkest version of the Punisher that you’re going to see,” teasing the special’s tone and vibe. This marks Bernthal’s first solo Punisher project in a long while, after Netflix canceled his original show in 2019 after only two seasons.
