A new Hawkeye Season 2 rumor has emerged online.
Marvel Television’s Hawkeye TV show premiered on Disney+ in 2021. Created by Jonathan Igla, the series sees Jeremy Renner once again reprise his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, while Hailee Steinfeld also stars as Kate Bishop.
There’s been much talk about whether or not Hawkeye will get a second season. While there’s been no official announcement from Marvel Studios as of yet saying that it’s in development as of yet, Renner has given optimistic updates on the project in the past and has suggested that it might happen. This came after a salary dispute that has seemingly been worked out.
What is the Hawkeye Season 2 rumor?
According to scooper James Mack, Hawkeye Season 2 will largely focus on the Kate Bishop character. It may also serve as a “definitive send-off” to Renner’s Clint, though how, exactly, that plays out remains to be seen.
“The idea is to have Kate Bishop as the protagonist, without Clint this time,” Mack said. “This would be Clint Barton’s definitive send-off (possibly a death, I honestly don’t know).”
Clint hasn’t been seen in the MCU since the Hawkeye show; although, archival footage of Renner was used in the Echo spin-off show that was released in 2024. Similarly, Steinfeld hasn’t had a big presence in the MCU since Hawkeye. She did, however, make a cameo during the post-credit scene of 2023’s The Marvels. That scene sets up a potential Young Avengers project, as Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel is seen recruiting her to join a new group of young superheroes. There’s been much speculation about when and how the Young Avengers will be incorporated into the rest of the shared Marvel universe.
Given that it hasn’t been officially announced, Hawkeye Season 2 does not have a release date. The first season is available to stream on Disney+.
