Stranger Things’ Fans Are Confused With ‘New Episode’ Label on Netflix

Stranger Things viewers are once again expressing confusion after the series appeared on Netflix with a “new episode” label. The tag has prompted renewed questions among users about the possibility of a secret Episode 9.

Fans are getting confused with Stranger Things’ ‘new episode’ label

Netflix viewers have raised questions after Stranger Things appeared with a “new episode” tag on the platform, despite no additional episodes being released. The label has led some users to mistakenly believe new content had been added, prompting confusion online.

Several fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to point out the issue, noting that the episode count and runtime remains same. One user wrote, “Netflix almost tricked me into believing #confirmitygate was out.”

They added, “But #strangerthings new episodes are just the final few.” Another commented, “Almost thought that #StrangerThings Episode 9 came out today after seeing the new episode label on my Netflix! #conformitygate.”

A third person wrote, “I woke up and saw “new episode” written on #StrangerThings on #Netflix. For a second, I thought the #Conformitygate episode 9 was real. But it wasn’t.”

The confusion comes at a time when theories about a hidden Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 9 have resurfaced. Speculation gained momentum following a recent appearance on The Tonight Show by Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Vecna. In a video, Bower briefly delivered the line “tomorrow it begins” in Vecna’s voice, a moment that quickly caught the attention of fans.

The video was also circulated on Reddit. In one post, a user encouraged others to search for the series online and suggested that secret Episode 9 will be soon released. The post yet again sparked theories that the show’s New Year’s Eve finale may not have been the true conclusion of the series. Some fans speculated about a surprise January 7 release for a secret Episode 9.

However, those claims were publicly dismissed by Stranger Things actor Randy Havens on Instagram.
