A new Scooby-Doo project is on the way, signaling another direction for the franchise after the end of Velma. The upcoming series has been quietly revealed with a new title and a planned release window.
Scooby-Doo! Gokko announced with release date with window
Scooby-Doo! Gokko was officially announced during the Scooby-Doo x Miss Frandy makeup launch event in Brazil in November 2025. According to TV Laint, the spin-off is currently in development and scheduled to be released in 2027.
The title Scooby-Doo! Gokko references the Japanese word gokko (ごっこ), which describes children’s pretend or role-playing games. The series will follow a chibi, anime-inspired aesthetic similar to Tom & Jerry Gokko, a series that premiered in Japan in 2022 and internationally in 2025 on YouTube and HBO Max.
Warner Bros. has not released any visual previews or confirmed the final art style of Scooby-Doo! Gokko. Warner Bros. plans to apply the same stylized approach used in Tom & Jerry Gokko, which featured short episodes and a kawaii/chibi animation design inspired by Japanese properties like Hello Kitty.
The new spin-off may originate from Go-Go Mystery Machine, a project announced at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2024. In that series, Shaggy and Scooby visit Japan and accidentally unleash hundreds of mythical Yokai monsters. Scooby’s uncle Daisuke-Doo, magical friend Etsuko, and tech expert Toshiro assist them in solving the mystery.
Warner Bros. has not issued updates on Go-Go Mystery Machine since its announcement. TV Laint notes that while some sources believe Scooby-Doo! Gokko reworks that concept, the connection remains unconfirmed.
Warner Bros. has an extended history of anime influence across its properties. Examples include Batman Ninja, Suicide Squad Isekai, and Rick and Morty: The Anime, produced in collaboration with Japanese studios like Studio Deen, Sola Entertainment, and Telecom Animation Film.
Warner Bros. has not released further details about Scooby-Doo! Gokko. The studio plans to share more information in the coming months.
