How The Witcher Season 4 Explains Liam Hemsworth Replacing Henry Cavill

A new report on The Witcher Season 4 reveals just how the upcoming Netflix show handles the casting change from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth.

How does The Witcher 4 explain Liam Hemsworth inclusion?

According to a new report from SFFGazette citing spoilers from the premiere of the show, the upcoming season will slightly address the sudden change in Geralt of Rivia’s look. The report notes that the premiere opens with a voiceover narration by Stribog (Clive Russell), who is telling the story of “The Butcher of Blaviken” to a group of children.

The story plays out similar to that of a scene in the first episode, but this time with Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt fighting a monster instead of Cavill. As Stribog finishes the story, a child pipes in to say he’s telling it wrong, leading Stribog to hand wave away the comment.

“Oh Nimue, not again, it was a hundred years ago, there’s no such thing as right and wrong…” says Stribog in the scene, a joking response to answer as to why Geralt looks different in the stories.

Season 4 of The Witcher will star Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia and will also star Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Princess Cirilla of Cintra, Joey Batey as Jaskier, Laurence Fishburne as Regis, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Anna Shaffer as Triss Merrigold, Mimî M Khayisa as Fringilla, Cassie Clare as Philippa, Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz, and more.

The Witcher Season 4 was created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who returns as showrunner and executive producer. The season was written by Hissrich, Tania Lotia, Rae Benjamin, Troy Dangerfield, Matthew D’Ambrosio, Javier Grilllo-Marxuach, Clare Higgins, and Mike Ostrowski.
