Stranger Things: Popular Character Won’t Return in Season 5

A popular Stranger Things character will not appear in Season 5 despite hints of a potential return.

Season 4 marked the debut of Eddie Munson. Played by Joseph Quinn, Eddie was the president of the Hellfire Club who became particularly close with Dustin. In the Upside Down, Eddie played a rousing rendition of Metallica’s Master of Puppets to distract the demobats from Vecna’s lair. Unfortunately, Eddie sacrificed himself and died in the Upside Down.

Stranger Things has brought characters back from the dead before, so there have been rumors that Munson might appear in the final season. Quinn even teased the idea of appearing in a flashback scene.

“Oh my god, yeah, I mean, it’s going to be out soon, isn’t it? Who knows? There’s always a chance for anything, isn’t there, really? Nothing’s impossible,” Quinn said.

During a recent interview with Empire, Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer put an end to the rumors of Munson’s return.

“I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people! But no, he’s dead,” Matt Duffer said. “Joe is so busy anyway that everyone should know he’s not coming back. He’s shot like five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, sadly, RIP. He’s fully under that ground.”

Stranger Things Season 5 will be the final chapter for one of Netflix’s most popular series. When Season 5 finally premieres, it will have been over three years since the Season 4 finale. Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things Season 5 will feature Eleven, Hopper, and the rest of the gang facing off against Vecna and the creatures of the Upside Down, which have invaded Hawkins.

Stranger Things Season 5 will be released in three parts on Netflix this year: Volume I on November 26, Volume II on December 25, and the finale on December 31.
