Among Us TV Show Still Happening, Gets New Update

A fan-favorite video game adaptation continues to keep audiences waiting. The highly anticipated Among Us animated series remains in development, with its creators confirming ongoing progress. Although production wrapped last year, no release date or major update has been announced yet.

Why there has been no news on Among Us TV show

Innersloth, the studio behind the hit 2018 video game, confirmed this in a recent message to Cartoon Base on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “TRUST we are still working on the show […] all that to say no news is coming haha sorry cartoonbase admin i respect ur hustle tho.” The developers clarified that while progress continues, no announcements or release information will be shared soon.

The animated series was first announced in June 2023 as a collaboration between Innersloth and CBS Studios. It adapts the social-deduction game’s premise, following a spaceship crew as they attempt to identify a shape-shifting impostor among them.

The project gained attention for its high-profile cast, including Elijah Wood, Patton Oswalt, Debra Wilson, Kimiko Glenn, and Dan Stevens. Despite strong fan interest, the show’s production timeline has stretched beyond expectations.

Showrunner Owen Dennis told Deadline that the series balances “humor with drama” and draws inspiration from Alien, Star Trek, and The Thing. In a 2024 presentation, Dennis confirmed that production wrapped in August 2024. Reports indicated that the team was still shopping the series to streaming platforms, which may explain the ongoing silence around its release.

A short teaser for Among Us premiered at the 2024 Summer Game Fest, highlighting its vibrant animation and ensemble voice cast. Innersloth posted its latest update on October 16, 2025, giving fans the first official news in over a year. The studio confirmed that development continues, even though no new announcements are expected soon.
