Eric Kripke has shared some new details about The Boys prequel series Vought Rising.
It was announced in July 2024 that Amazon had ordered a new The Boys prequel series, Vought Rising, that will star Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Stormfront. The show will be set in 1950s New York and comes from The Boys creator Kripke and showrunner Paul Grellong.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Kripke opened up about why he thinks Vought Rising is a “fascinating idea.”
What did Eric Kripke say about Vought Rising?
“No one’s really done a period superhero show that deals with U.S. history, with Joseph McCarthy and Judy Garland and Ronald Reagan and Hoover,” he said. “I think it’s just such a fascinating idea for a show whether The Boys existed or not.”
He also noted, “Quality control to me is the most important thing, that each one of these series is fun to watch on its own. It doesn’t need the other one to exist.”
Kripke and Grellong previously said in a statement, via Variety, about Vought Rising, “We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”
Further details remain under wraps at this time. No casting information beyond Ackles and Cash has been announced.
A premiere date for Vought Rising has not yet been set. The Boys, meanwhile, is ending with its fifth and final season, which also does not yet have a premiere date. The first four seasons of The Boys are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
