Over a year after his near-fatal snowplow accident, Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner surprised fans with his impressive workout routine.
On Twitter X, Renner posted a video inside his home basement where the MCU star was seen performing heavy dumbbell curls as he remains on the road to recovery. “My day off,” Renner said. “I’m not always excited nor motivated, but I tend to push harder those days. Progress requires progressions.”
Renner’s accident took place near his Reno, Nevada home on New Year’s Day 2023 when the actor tried to prevent an unmanned Snowcat from striking his nephew. The actor suffered blunt chest trauma and 30 broken bones as a result, undergoing weeks in intensive care. With the assistance of an anti-gravity machine, Renner regained the strength to walk and began months of physical therapy.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Renner addressed his recovery process. “[I’m doing] probably 90 percent of all the things I needed to be doing… I think another six months will be hopefully running [more]… I got to set goals for myself,” Renner said. “I’ll do whatever I can… whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger. It’s a one-way street, this recovery. The rest of my life is about health and wellness. Recovery will be part of the rest of my life, so I look forward to it, man. There’s always something to do to get better, be stronger, be happier, be healthier, and that’s what I look forward to.”

Renner’s miraculous recovery carried over into his acting career as he resumed work on the Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown for its third season. As for his MCU future following the conclusion of the Hawkeye series on Disney+, Renner is more than ready to answer Marvel Studios‘ call.
“I’m always game,” Renner said. “I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready. All those guys come to my bedside and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so… if they want me, they could have me. It would be something.”
