Legends of Tomorrow Canceled After Seven Seasons on The CW

The CW already dropped the axe on Batwoman earlier today. But now, we can officially add one more show to the Arrowverse graveyard. Deadline reports that Legends of Tomorrow has been canceled as well.

Legends of Tomorrow debuted in 2016 and featured characters who originally appeared on Arrow and The Flash. Over the next seven seasons, the show’s main cast became a revolving door for DC fixtures, some more recognizable than others. Plus, the Legends gang regularly participated in The CW’s annual crossover events with other Arrowverse heavyweights. The series notably gave Superman Returns star Brandon Routh the chance to play another DC hero, Ray Palmer/The Atom. It also invited Matt Ryan to reprise his role as John Constantine after his earlier NBC series got the axe in 2015.

After news of the cancellation broke, co-showrunner Keto Shimizu issued a message to fans on Twitter. You can read what she had to say below.

Ironically enough, Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow aired their final episodes on the exact same day back in March. But with both of them gone, The Flash and Superman & Lois are all that remains of The CW’s once-sprawling Arrowverse franchise. The network formally ordered a third season of Superman & Lois last month. However, rumor has it that The Flash’s upcoming ninth season will be its last.
