The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Begins Filming

Let the hype for original Marvel programming on Disney+ commence. Filming on the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is officially underway, with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan reprising their respective roles. The news was confirmed by showrunner Malcolm Spellman, who previously worked on the TV series Empire. Spellman shared an Instagram post that showed off a piece of material with the show’s logo (and his name) on it.

“Craaazy to see it come to life,” he said in the post. “Marvel ain’t allowing photos from set right now but this (is) a huge day for a lot of people including me.” You can see the complete post below.

This will be the very first Marvel Studios original series on Disney+. Along with Mackie and Stan, the show also features the return of Daniel Brühl. He’ll once again portray Helmut Zemo, who created a wedge between the Avengers in the 2016 film Captain America: Civil War

Also returning is Emily VanCamp, who will once again portray Sharon Carter. Wyatt Russell is also in the cast as John Walker. In the comics, Walker goes on to become Super-Patriot and even briefly Captain America before settling on US Agent as his heroic identity.

The Handmaid’s Tale’s Karl Skogland will direct all six episodes. And The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will hit Disney+ in fall 2020.
