Amazon Picks Up Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s Truth Seekers

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s next comedic venture is one step closer to reaching the masses. According to Variety, Amazon Prime Video has just secured the international rights to the pair’s new series, Truth Seekers.

Frost will star on the show as Gus, a ghost hunter who tracks and films paranormal events throughout the United Kingdom and shares them online. Gus will actually work with a partner on the series, but it’s not clear if Pegg is playing this role. Not much is known about Pegg’s character other than the fact that his name is Dave.

Truth Seekers will also be the first series produced under Frost and Pegg’s Stolen Picture banner. The first season will be comprised of eight half-hour episodes. Pegg and Frost will assume writing duties alongside Sick Note creators Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz. Additionally, Jim Field Smith is directing the episodes.

“Simon, Miles and I, and everyone at Stolen Picture, are incredibly happy to be making Truth Seekers with our new partners, Amazon Prime Video,” Frost said in a statement. “It’s been nothing but a joyride in seeing this mad tale of paranormal conspiracy unfold in all its understated brilliance. Amazon’s commitment and support of the show, and of original programming generally, showed us that we couldn’t be collaborating with a bigger or better team.”

“Nick and I are delighted that Truth Seekers has found a home with Amazon Prime Video,” added Pegg. “We’re looking forward to working closely with them and creating something very special. These are truly exciting times for television, and I can’t think of a better partner than Amazon to accompany us on a return to the smaller screen.”

Truth Seekers will start production in September.
