HBO’s Watchmen Series Has Wrapped Filming

It’s anyone’s guess as to how long HBO and creator Damon Lindelof plan to prolong the mystery surrounding the upcoming Watchmen series. A trailer for the new spin on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ seminal graphic novel dropped last month. But it gave nothing away in terms of plot or character. It seems like the network is waiting for the right moment to share new information about the show, and that might be coming relatively soon. Via ComicBook.com, it sounds like production on the series’ inaugural season has finally concluded.

News about the end of filming comes from a Watchmen fan account on Instagram. You can check out the account’s latest post below.

Watchmen Season 1 Wrapped! Thanks to the cast and crew of HBO’s Watchmen, we now know that the filming for the first season of the series is over! The show was wrapped Wednesday, but HBO still hasn’t made an official announcement. The Pilot was shot about a year ago, and then they started full-time last October. The filming took about 8 months. The show will premiere this fall, possibly mid-October. There haven’t been any talks about a second season, but with the huge fan base that the comic has, and the already hyped first season, a second season is very much expected! Congratulation to the cast and crew for finishing the filming! I personally cannot wait to see the series! Sources: @mandylfason @queen_philonese #WatchmenHBO

Although it isn’t the series’ official mouthpiece, the account references other recent posts by some of its cast and crew members. Mandy Fason, who works as a set costumer on the show, posted a photo that was apparently taken at the wrap party for season 1. Additionally, makeup department stylist Philonese West shared a similar picture with one of the series’ leads, Regina King. You can take a look at both of those posts below.

Now that the series has entered post-production, it’s entirely possible that HBO will make more announcements ahead of its fall premiere date. The perfect opportunity to do this would be at next month’s San Diego Comic-Con. The convention has yet to reveal the full programming schedule, but the Watchmen series seems likely to have a panel at this year’s event.
