FX Orders Y: The Last Man To Series

Nearly two decades after its debut, Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s Vertigo comic book series, Y: The Last Man, is coming to live-action. Via The Hollywood Reporter, FX has officially picked up Y: The Last Man for a 2020 debut on the cable network.

Barry Keoghan will star in the series as Yorick Brown, an escape artist who becomes the only surviving man after a catastrophic plague wipes out the rest of the human males. Yorick and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand, find themselves in a greatly changed world that is now dominated by women.

Diane Lane co-stars in the series as Yorick’s mother Senator Jennifer Brown. Imogen Poots is also on the show as Yorick’s sister Hero Brown, with Lashana Lynch as Agent 355. Amber Tamblyn will portray Mariette Callows, the daughter of the president of the United States. Juliana Canfield and Marin Ireland also have roles on the series.

Michael Green will serve as the showrunner, with Vaughn as an executive producer. Vaughn also developed his comic for television, and will remain involved with the series as it goes into production.

Melina Matsoukas, who directed the pilot, did an incredible job bringing it to life with Diane Lane and this stellar cast.”
