Andrew Garfield’s Reply To Avengers: Doomsday Return Is Extremely Familiar

Andrew Garfield continues to give the same response about his potential involvement in the upcoming MCU tentpole, Avengers: Doomsday. However, given the track record he set with his answers about Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans have legitimate reasons to doubt his responses.

Andrew Garfield repeatedly denies Avengers: Doomsday return

Garfield once more stated that he is not part of Avengers: Doomsday. Speaking to Variety while promoting his new movie The Uprising, Garfield almost inevitably fielded questions about Avengers: Doomsday. “I am not [in Doomsday],” he said. Prompted by the interviewer, Garfield then looked at the camera and reiterated that he wasn’t in the upcoming Marvel movie.

When the interviewer pointed out that Garfield had previously lied about his involvement in Marvel projects, the two-time Oscar nominee accepted that he had, adding, “So you will find out, I suppose one way or the other.”

This isn’t the first time that Garfield has responded to speculation on a prospective Doomsday return. “No, unequivocally f—– no,” he said in October 2025 when asked about his and Tobey Maguire’s inclusion in the feature.

However, rumors and speculation persist because, as noted above, Garfield has vehemently denied his involvement in No Way Home until it became public knowledge that he was indeed in the movie. Some fans think the same is true for Doomsday. It seems Garfield is also aware that people will not trust what he has to say on the matter because of his history. “I’m gonna disappoint you. Yeah, no,” he said about his involvement in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. “But I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on,” Garfield added.

Notably, Garfield has portrayed Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the two Amazing Spider-Man movies and in No Way Home. He has also appeared as the same character via archival footage in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Avengers: Doomsday is set for release on December 18, 2026, and features an ever-expanding cast. It’s always possible that Garfield is one of them.
