Why Ryan Gosling May Not Be the Only A-Lister Playing Ghost Rider in MCU

Multiple Ghost Riders may be riding into Avengers: Secret Wars, and one of them could be a familiar face. The latest rumors suggest Marvel Studios is planning to feature several versions of the Spirit of Vengeance in the upcoming crossover event.

A new rumor claims Avengers: Secret Wars will feature multiple versions of Ghost Rider. MCU Film News shared the report on X, citing insider @JamesMackwl as the source. The rumor adds another layer to the growing list of characters expected in the crossover event.

Marvel Studios already confirmed Ryan Gosling will star in a solo Ghost Rider film set for 2028. The studio announced the project as part of its post-Multiverse Saga slate this summer. Secret Wars could introduce variants of the character before the solo film arrives.

It remains possible that audiences may not see the face of any Ghost Rider in Secret Wars. The film could feature the Spirit of Vengeance in transformed or obscured forms only. However, a Nicolas Cage cameo remains a possibility for old times’ sake. Cage previously portrayed Johnny Blaze in Sony’s Ghost Rider (2007) and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2012).

Another name has also surfaced in connection with the role. Scooper MyTimeToShineH previously stated on X, “I have heard from sources that Bill Skarsgard (IT) is still in talks for another MCU role, maybe for Ghost Rider.” Skarsgard’s potential involvement would add yet another variant to the mix alongside Gosling’s version.

The multiple Ghost Rider rumor fits the expected scope of Secret Wars as a multiverse-spanning event. Reports have already linked several other newcomers to the film, including Sadie Sink as Jean Grey. Inde Navarrette is also rumored to debut as Rogue, according to insider Jeff Sneider. David Jonsson’s Black Panther has similarly been floated as a potential appearance.

Marvel Studios have not officially confirmed the Secret Wars cast yet. Production on the film is expected to begin soon, following the release of Avengers: Doomsday. The studio will likely keep casting details under wraps to preserve Doomsday spoilers.
