A new rumor claims Wolverine may be missing from Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men movie. This raises the question of whether Marvel plans to keep Wolverine out of the film or reveal him as part of the final lineup.
According to X account DoomsServant, Beast, Angel, and Jubilee are expected to appear in the movie. Kitty Pryde and Iceman were described as uncertain, with their chances of appearing said to be “50/50 at best.” Meanwhile, Gambit, Polaris, Wolverine and Colossus are reportedly not expected to appear.
The details remain unverified, and Marvel Studios has not confirmed the rumored lineup. The report should therefore be taken with a “pinch of salt.”
What we know about the confirmed X-Men cast so far
Marvel recently revealed the principal cast for its new X-Men movie at the 2026 D23 event. Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, while Kit Connor will portray Scott Summers (also known as Cyclops). Christopher Abbott is set to play Professor Charles Xavier.
The confirmed cast also includes Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm. Adam Driver will play Nathaniel Milbury, the human identity of Mister Sinister.
Wolverine was not included in Marvel’s announced cast. However, the studio has not confirmed that Logan will be absent from the finished movie. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige indicated that more casting announcements are expected.
That leaves room for additional characters to join the film as development continues. The current cast also does not confirm whether the rumored Beast, Angel, Jubilee, Kitty Pryde, or Iceman will appear.
Jake Schreier is directing the movie after previously helming Marvel’s Thunderbolts. Lee Sung Jin, Joanna Calo, and Michael Lesslie are the writers.
Marvel has set the film for a theatrical release on May 5, 2028. The project will mark the MCU’s first standalone X-Men movie and introduce a new generation of mutants to the franchise.
