Noah Centineo confirms when Netflix’s Gundam movie wrapped filming
Noah Centineo revealed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that Netflix’s live-action Gundam movie recently finished production. The actor confirmed the film wrapped approximately a week and a half before his August 17 interview. This places the end of filming around late July 2026.
Centineo stars alongside Sydney Sweeney in the long-awaited adaptation directed by Jim Mickle. He described the project as “a big action-romance space movie” during the conversation. The actor also compared the story to “a non-Shakespearean Romeo and Juliet in space.”
The film takes place within the Universal Century canon of the Gundam franchise. Centineo acknowledged limitations on what he could share about specific characters. He stated, “I don’t know how much I can tell you about what characters are in it, if they are, if they’re not.”
Regarding a potential release window, Centineo kept expectations measured. He said, “We just wrapped it a week and a half ago, and who knows?” Netflix has not yet announced an official release date for the project.
Centineo also praised his co-star Sweeney’s talent and work ethic on set. He called her “brilliant” and expressed a desire to collaborate repeatedly. He added, “I want to do movies over and over and over again with her.” The actor also pushed back against online criticism directed at Sweeney. He stated, “Having done a film and spent months and months of my life with her now, they have no idea who she is.”
The cast also includes Jason Isaacs, Michael Mando, Shioli Kutsuna, and Nonso Anozie. Centineo noted that some Gundam crew members previously worked on his Street Fighter film. The live-action adaptation has been in development in various forms since 2018.
