Adam Driver fans have received disappointing news about the Star Wars movie Hunt for Ben Solo. In a recent update, Dave Filoni weighed in on the possibility of Kylo Ren’s return.
During a recent interaction with Filoni at D23, Deadline asked him about the possibility of Kylo Ren returning in the future. Pouring cold water on the same, the Lucasfilm co-President stated, “It’s not here, you won’t find it here. The force is not with us in that regard; I love the love you feel for it.
The news comes as a disappointing update for Kylo Ren fans. In 2025, Driver and Steven Soderbergh revealed that their plans for The Hunt for Ben Solo had fallen through. They also explained that the story would have followed the events of Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. The movie was reportedly set to explore Ben Solo’s path toward redemption after the events of The Rise of Skywalker.

What else do we know about the Star Wars Hunt for Ben Solo movie?
Despite the development, reports indicated that the movie had reached a dead end after Disney CEO Bob Iger and Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman reportedly lost interest in the project. One of the movie’s major roadblocks was Ben Solo’s fate. In The Rise of Skywalker, Solo died, which raised questions about how the story could continue.
Despite the lack of updates about the project, fans remained hopeful. That’s because the Star Wars franchise has previously brought characters back after seemingly fatal events. For example, Boba Fett, Darth Maul, and Emperor Palpatine all returned after audiences believed they had died. However, either they all survived or were later revealed to have returned. In fact, fans even launched a campaign urging Disney to move forward with the project.
Unfortunately, Filoni’s latest comments indicate that the project is not moving forward.
