It looks like Disney‘s planned Prince Charming movie with Daisy Edgar-Jones may no longer be happening. The actress was previously reported to be in talks for the female lead in the film. However, new reports claim that the project is no longer in development.
According to a recent report from Jeff Sneider, Disney is reportedly no longer moving forward with its live-action Prince Charming movie. “I’m told the studio has also nixed a Prince Charming movie starring Daisy Edgar-Jones,” the scooper said.
Sneider went on to explain, “Development on that project didn’t work out — director Paul King is focused on Tom Holland’s Fred Astaire movie next — so Disney has pivoted to Gaston.”
In October 2024, Variety reported that Chris Hemsworth was in talks to play the titular character in Prince Charming. At the time, Sneider reported that Disney wanted Edgar-Jones to star opposite the MCU actor in the female lead. Although Prince Charming was Cinderella’s romantic interest in Disney’s original Cinderella, the planned live-action movie was not expected to feature the character specifically.
Following the reported cancellation of Prince Charming, Disney is now reportedly eyeing Chad Powers star Glen Powell to play Gaston in the new project. Sneider said, “Powell is a good get for the studio… I just don’t like this for him, personally.” Further details about the project have not surfaced yet.
