Avengers: Doomsday has given fans their first look at Nightcrawler’s new X-Men costume at D23. The display also featured Mystique’s costume, which appeared in the trailer. Nightcrawler had not been shown in the movie’s marketing until now.
Film analyst Erik Voss (@eavoss) shared a photo from the D23 floor with the caption, “First official look of Nightcrawler’s suit and swords in Avengers Doomsday at D23! Mystique costume too!”
Nightcrawler’s new costume features his classic blue skin and yellow eyes. The design keeps his tail and pointed ears. Fans can see the suit up close at the D23 Expo, which runs Aug. 14–17, 2026.

The exhibit highlights the film’s multiverse crossover event, as it brings together heroes from the MCU, the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts, and the Fox-era X-Men. Robert Downey Jr. leads as Doctor Doom.
What other X-Men characters will be in Avengers: Doomsday besides Nightcrawler and Mystique?
Several X-Men stars will return alongside Nightcrawler and Mystique. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen will reprise Professor X and Magneto. James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, and Channing Tatum will also return as Cyclops, Beast, and Gambit.
Marvel’s official logline says Avengers: Doomsday follows “beloved heroes from three distinct universes” on a deadly collision course. The Russo brothers are directing from Michael Waldron’s screenplay. The film will release on Dec. 18, 2026.
The confirmed cast spans more than 30 characters. Chris Hemsworth will return as Thor. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will reprise their roles as the Fantastic Four. Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, and Paul Rudd will also appear.
Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Letitia Wright’s Shuri are part of the ensemble. Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Winston Duke, and Danny Ramirez round out the roster. The film will set up the next chapter, Avengers: Secret Wars.
Avengers: Doomsday marks the first time so many Marvel eras share the screen. The D23 display gives a rare peek at the X-Men’s updated looks before the December premiere.
