The countdown has reportedly been updated with a new background, bringing Doctor Doom back into the limelight. Such a sudden modification has reminded Marvel fans of the major role that Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., will have in the film.
Furthermore, the countdown change has led fans to expect a new update or trailer from the MCU. At the time of writing this article, the countdown shows that 4 months, 3 days, and 13 hours remain until the big release.
Doctor Doom remains one of the biggest mysteries surrounding Marvel’s next Avengers movie
Doctor Doom, aka Victor Von Doom, is a character from Marvel Comics who has recently been incorporated into the MCU. The master villain was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby back in 1962. According to MC, the science genius and sorcerer is the king of Latveria.
Robert Downey Jr., who previously became a fan favorite as Iron Man, is returning to the MCU as the supervillain. The character will be donning a caped green suit and a metal mask. Although Marvel has announced the casting and revealed RDJ’s look, they have managed to keep the further details under wraps.
During the Marvel Panel at the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel revealed that Latverian witches will serve as followers of Doctor Doom. The new supervillain is reportedly stronger than Thanos. As revealed in the Marvel trailer, the Latverian King defended Thor, the God of Thunder, with ease. However, Thanos was impacted by the blow of Thor’s Stormbreaker.
Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor, during a conversation with the team of Avengers, said, “I’ve fought with many warriors in my time, who were far stronger than all of us put together, and they died. They died facing enemies and threats that scared me far less than this one.”
