The End of Oak Street has left behind the Jurassic World franchise on Rotten Tomatoes. Following the World Premiere of the film on August 9, 2026, at the Steven J. Ross Theater in Burbank, California, the movie secured a higher Tomatometer score than every film in the Jurassic World franchise except the 1993 film Jurassic Park.
At the time of the publication of this article, The End of Oak Street has received an 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer with 92 reviews.
Jurassic Park (1993) holds a rating of 91% in both Tomatometer and Popcornmeter. However, the highest rating that a Jurassic World Franchise movie has received is held by the 2015 film Jurassic World, which is 72% on the Tomatometer. The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) got 57% on the Tomatometer. Jurassic Park III (2001), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), and Jurassic World Dominion (2022) have received 49%, 47%, and 28% on the Tomatometer, respectively. The latest movie of the franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth (2025), secured a 50% rating.
The synopsis of The End of Oak Street, per Rotten Tomatoes, reads, “After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.”
What are critics saying about The End of Oak Street?
The Anne Hathaway-starred movie has received an average rating of 3.4 or more out of 5, or an 8 out of 10 from critics, per Rotten Tomatoes. The review from Jonathan Sim at ComingSoon.net read, “An extremely entertaining popcorn movie that feels designed to be experienced with a packed theater, complete with jump scares, big thrills, audience screams, and plenty of moments that practically beg you to shout at the screen.”
“The End of Oak Street isn’t merely a running buffet of references; it’s an honourable attempt to revive bygone blockbusting techniques for a contemporary crowd,” read the review from Daily Telegraph (UK) critic Robbie Collin.
Several reviews hinted at how the sci-fi adventure has tried to recapture the terror of dinosaurs with imagination and storytelling techniques. DrumDums critic Lee McCoy praised David Robert Mitchell’s camera work. Drawing a comparison with Steven Spielberg’s creations, Alistair Harkness from The Scotsman gave a mixed review, stating, “it’s got an odd mix of tones, as if it can’t decide if it wants to be a pastiche of an even earlier type of Spielberg movie (the film is set in 1982), a full-blown arthouse horror film or a straight-up summer blockbuster.”
The film will be hitting the theaters on August 14, 2026.
