Two Batman TV shows featuring iconic villainous characters were passed over by DC and HBO Max. The famous caped crusader has plenty of antagonists in Gotham City, and the rejected TV projects focused on two of his known arch-nemeses.
It’s been revealed that DC and HBO Max passed on the pitches for Poison Ivy and Catwoman TV shows, reports The Ankler. At this point, it’s unclear if the shelved projects were part of James Gunn’s DCU or Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe.
The latest news comes alongside details related to several other canceled DC TV shows. Two other planned TV shows, Waller and Paradise Lost, are also dead at DC. Waller revolved around the ruthless government official Amanda Waller. The character was previously played by Viola Davis in the 2016 Suicide Squad movie and then in the Peacemaker TV show.
Meanwhile, the Paradise Lost mainly focused on the adventures of Themyscira, home of the iconic DC superheroine Wonder Woman.
What Batman shows are available to watch on HBO Max at this time?
Speaking of currently available TV shows on HBO Max, fans can enjoy titles such as Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Batman: Brave and the Bold, and Batwheels.
There’s also The Penguin TV series, featuring Colin Farrell in the titular role. He reprises his popular villainous role from 2022’s The Batman. Released in 2024, the acclaimed TV show also stars Cristin Milioti, Clancy Brown, Rhenzy Feliz, Mark Strong, and Theo Rossi.
Interestingly, The Penguin is also expected to get Season 2, according to a promising update revealed earlier this year. The project will see Lauren LeFranc returning as the showrunner and executive producer.
Another Batman TV show fans can watch right now on HBO Max is the animated adult comedy series Harley Quinn. Released in 2019, it features former The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco in the title role of the iconic Batman villain.
