A potential fight between Yelena Belova and Mystique in Avengers: Doomsday has not been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios. The discussion originated after @MyTimeToShineHello posted “These leaks are never going to end.” followed by “Mystique vs Yelena?!?” on X. No verified production information confirms a direct confrontation between the two characters.
Avengers: Doomsday features Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, a New Avengers member trained in the Red Room as a Black Widow assassin, alongside Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, a shapeshifting mutant. The film brings together multiple groups, including the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and X-Men, as they unite to face Doctor Doom.
The X-Men lineup in Avengers: Doomsday includes Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, forming part of the ensemble crossover involving multiple teams.
Rebecca Romijn confirmed her return during production, stating, “It’s feels great. We’re currently in production. [I’m] back and forth between Star Trek and Doomsday so it’s been a very eventful summer.” Her statement confirms Mystique’s involvement but does not reference any interaction with Yelena.
Anthony and Joe Russo direct the film, while Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely write it, with filming taking place between April and September 2025. The project serves as a sequel to Avengers: Endgame and forms part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Six.
Marvel Studios will release Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027 worldwide in theaters.
