Percy Jackson and the Olympians has revealed its goddess of love and beauty. The Disney+ fantasy series has cast comedian Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite for Season 3 ahead of the second season’s release. The show’s inaugural season came out on December 19, 2023. Disney+ renewed it for Season 2 in February 2024 and for Season 3 in March 2025.
Kate McKinnon added to Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 cast as Aphrodite
While Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is yet to come out, casting for the third season is already underway. It was recently announced that SNL alum and Barbie actor Kate McKinnon has joined the show’s cast in the recurring guest role of Aphrodite, as per Variety.
According to the official description of the character, Aphrodite “can alter her appearance depending on the beholder.” It also describes the show’s rendition of the Greek goddess as someone who “must be sure that Percy Jackson respects the power and importance of love before she agrees to offer aid on his quest.”
This comes after Levi Chrisopulos, Olive Abercrombie, Dafne Keen, and Saara Chaudry boarded the Season 3 cast as Nico di Angelo, Bianca di Angelo, goddess Artemis, and Zoë Nightshade, respectively. They will join Walker Scobell’s Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries’ Annabeth Chase, and Aryan Simhadri’s Grover Underwood.
Notably, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is an adaptation of the eponymous book series by Rick Riordan, who created the show alongside Jonathan E. Steinberg. Season 1 is based on the first book, The Lightning Thief. Seasons 2 and 3 will adapt the next two novels, The Sea of Monsters and The Titan’s Curse.
Since publishing The Lightning Thief in 2005, Riordan has significantly expanded the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles franchise, which includes the Percy Jackson and the Olympians books. Accordingly, the Disney+ series can potentially go on for a long time beyond Season 3.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 debuts on December 10, 2025. Season 3 currently doesn’t have an official release date.
