An actor from Marvel’s upcoming Wonder Man series recently addressed whether Simon Williams could have defeated Thanos. At the New York Comic Con, the actor shared that he believes that it would be a “good fight.” The comment comes ahead of the Disney+ show’s release in January 2026.

Actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II recently weighed on a potential face-off between his character, Wonder Man, and Thanos.
While promoting his upcoming Disney+ series Wonder Man at New York Comic Con, the Marvel star was asked whether Simon Williams could take on Thanos. Laughing, he first asked, “Are we talking about Simon Williams as we know him in my show, are we talking about Simon Williams as we know him when we turn the pages?”
The actor added, “When we turn the pages, I’m going to always go for Wonder Man right now. I think it’d be a good fight” (via ComicBook.com).
Abdul-Mateen II also spoke about his character’s arc and the possibility of returning to the MCU. When asked whether fans might see more of Simon Williams in future projects, he said, “I think that’s the answer for the writers and for the producers and for the creatives, I can say that I hope so.”
The actor also added that there is plenty more to uncover about the character. “We see a lot of his story being about the ambition and him being humble, on the process of trying to get to a taste of what he wants.”
Set to debut in January 2026, Wonder Man follows Simon Williams, a Hollywood actor whose life takes a dramatic turn when he gains superhuman abilities. The series also stars Ben Kingsley, reprising his role as Trevor Slattery, alongside Demetrius Grosse and Ed Harris. Bob Odenkirk and Courteney Cox are reportedly rumored to be linked to the project.
