Avengers: Jennifer Garner Fuels Doomsday Speculation With MCU Elektra Photo

Amid rumors of Marvel Studios getting ready to release another “chair live stream” that will announce the rest of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, some fans believe Jennifer Garner‘s latest Instagram post is hinting at her potential inclusion in the future reveal.

On September 15, Garner shared on Instagram a collection of photos featuring either her name or a variation of it, such as “cool mom” and “Jen Garner.” The very first photo was a behind-the-scenes image of her in costume as Elektra. While many fans initially mistook this to be confirmation that Garner was back as Elektra for Avengers: Doomsday, ComicBookMovie set the record straight by noting that the director’s chair to the right of the actor says, “Eleven,” which is believed to have been Elektra’s codename in the Deadpool & Wolverine script to avoid her return being leaked.

Is Jennifer Garner’s Elektra in Avengers: Doomsday?

Unfortunately, despite Garner waiting more than a year after Deadpool & Wolverine’s release to share this behind-the-scenes photo of Elektra, the actor is still not officially confirmed to be part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast. So far, the only cast member from the 2024 blockbuster that will be back for Doomsday is Channing Tatum as the X-Men mutant Gambit, although Hugh Jackman, Dafne Keen, and Ryan Reynolds have all been rumored to appear.

Production is currently underway on Doomsday, with Joe and Anthony Russo returning in the directors’ chairs, having helmed the previous two Avengers movies — Infinity War (2018) and Endgame (2019). Doomsday will reunite the Russo Brothers with several long-running Marvel Cinematic Universe cast members, such as Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki).

The upcoming crossover movie will also feature the highly anticipated return of Robert Downey Jr. to the MCU. However, the actor will not be back as fan-favorite Avenger Iron Man and will instead be playing a Doctor Doom variant.

Marvel Studios is set to release Avengers: Doomsday in theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
