MCU Rumors May Reveal Avengers: Doomsday Surprise, Sadie Sink’s Spider-Man 4 Character

The rumor mill has begun heating up again for the Marvel Cinematic Universe now that both Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day are filming.

Which MCU alum is rumored to be returning for Avengers: Doomsday?

During the latest The Hot Mic episode, trusted insider Jeff Sneider reiterated that “[Chris] Evans is back” for Doomsday. Evans’ inclusion in the next Avengers sequel has been rumored for some time now, although the actor has done his best to debunk the casting.

While Evans did return in last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, the role he played in the 2000s Fantastic Four movies, Sneider and scooper MyTimeToShineHello have both stated that the actor would be coming back as the MCU’s Steve Rogers. Sneider has further stated that Evans would be playing the Nomad version of Steve in Doomsday.

Additionally, Sneider revealed on The Hot Mic that he “heard the Jean Grey thing again,” regarding Sadie Sink‘s mystery role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Since the Stranger Things actor joined the fourth Spider-Man movie in March 2025, she has been rumored to be playing everyone from mutants Jean Grey and Firestar to Spider-Man love interests Black Cat and Gwen Stacy. However, as Sneider’s Hot Mic co-host John Rocha noted, until set photos of Sink come out, fans won’t know for sure who she is playing in the MCU.

Production on Doomsday began at the end of April, while filming on Brand New Day kicked off at the start of August. The two movies will be Marvel Studios’ only theatrical releases in 2026, with Spider-Man arriving in theaters first next July, followed by Avengers that December.

The Russo Brothers are in the director’s chair for Doomsday, which will assemble the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men for a multiversal adventure involving Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Brand New Day, on the other hand, has Destin Daniel Cretton overseeing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man’s next adventure, which has The Punisher, Hulk, and Scorpion in supporting roles.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31, 2026, followed by Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026.
