Wednesday’s Uncle Fester Spin-off Gets Confusing Update Following Season 2

Fred Armisen recently gave an update on the Wednesday spin-off based on his character, Uncle Fester. The show was first announced in December 2023. Uncle Fester is one of the most popular characters in the Netflix series and was introduced in Season 1. Armisen also portrays Fester in the recently released Wednesday Season 2 Part 1.

The Portlandia actor recently sat down for a conversation to promote Wednesday Season 2 Part 1, when he was asked about the Uncle Fester spin-off.

Deadline asked Fred Armisen whether the spin-off was still in the works, and how he felt about bringing comedic relief to the dark and horror setup of Wednesday. He expressed that he feels no “pressure” in adding the comedic elements to the show when needed and stated, “It’s so fun to do.”

While addressing the spin-off, Armisen gave a bit vague answer and conveyed, “It feels very organic. That’s all I can really say about it as far as the anticipation of it all. I love getting to do it and to embody this character who’s existed for a long time. That’s the fun of it.”

Moreover, last month, the creators of Wednesday, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, also gave an update regarding the spin-off focusing on Fred Armisen’s character. However, it would rather disappoint those who want to see Uncle Fester in his own series.

Gough told Collider, “It’s not a priority at the moment because, as we just said, it’s how do we get Wednesday back faster than we did in Season 2? So, we kind of went right from finishing Season 2 to jumping right into developing Season 3. So, it’s sort of all Wednesday all the time at the moment.”

Thus, the chances of the Uncle Fester spin-off having a release date window anytime soon remain uncertain.
