New set photos from The Punisher 2026 Special Presentation reveal the return of Curtis Hoyle, with Jason R. Moore reprising the role. The images show Hoyle, a key ally from the Netflix series, alongside Frank Castle during scenes filmed on the streets of New York. Castle hides as martial law takes effect under Mayor Fisk’s administration following the events of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1.
Curtis Hoyle originally appeared in The Punisher on Netflix as a former Navy corpsman and trusted confidant of Castle. He operated veteran support groups and was one of the few people Frank could rely on. Hoyle was previously targeted by Billy Russo, but Frank ultimately saved his life. In return, Hoyle encouraged Frank to attend therapy to cope with his trauma.
The Disney+ 2026 Special Presentation will mark Hoyle’s first official appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His presence suggests a continuation of the character’s storyline from the Netflix era. The confirmed footage shows him conversing with Castle discreetly, indicating that Hoyle may be aiding him once again despite their prior disagreement.
The Punisher is on the run from Mayor Wilson Fisk’s anti-vigilante task force. This plot continues from Daredevil: Born Again. According to official details, Jon Bernthal co-wrote the Special Presentation. It explores Castle’s survival after his escape and his renewed conflict with threats like Ma Gnucci of the Gnucci Crime Family.
A Jon Bernthal fan account on Instagram first revealed the character’s return through set footage. Marvel plans to debut The Punisher on Disney+ in 2026, ahead of Castle’s confirmed appearance in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
Marvel Studios has not yet announced further casting or plot specifics beyond Castle’s fugitive status and Hoyle’s confirmed return.
