After waiting for a prolonged period of four years, fans of the Black Clover anime seem to have finally received a positive update regarding the future of the series, with a recent rumor suggesting that work on its much-awaited Season 5 is underway. Based on a manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Yūki Tabata, the animated show first made its small-screen debut in 2017, before indefinitely pausing its run in 2021. However, if ongoing speculations are anything to go by, the anime could soon make a return with its fifth installment.
Black Clover anime rumored to get sequel amid Season 5 demands
As noted by renowned anime scooper Shonen Jump News in a recent update, Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump reportedly announced in its latest issue that, despite the long hiatus, the Black Clover anime will be receiving a sequel after all.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on July 2, Shone Jump News provided a rare update on Black Clover Season 5, writing, “Black Clover TV Anime has officially confirmed a Sequel/Season 2 to be in production in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #32. More details will be revealed in the future.”
While the rumor communicates that work on the Black Clover sequel is moving in the forward direction, Studio Pierrot, which has produced all four installments in the franchise so far, has yet to share any official word regarding the progress on the proposed Season 5.
The beloved anime made its television premiere on October 3, 2017, spanning four seasons and 170 episodes during its four-year run. Despite having much source material to cover, Black Clover went off-air in 2021 after its fourth installment. Since then, Studio Pierrot has maintained silence regarding a potential sequel to the anime.
Nevertheless, if the aforementioned rumor regarding Black Clover Season 5 turns out to be true, fans will finally be able to witness the next part of Asta’s journey in the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc.
