Marvel Studios has seemingly canceled one of its Disney+ shows, after four years since it aired its first episode on the streaming platform. At the moment, the blockbuster studio is cutting back on producing multiple shows for Disney+, as part of its efforts to prioritize quality over quantity by reducing the number of movies and shows it will be releasing per year.
What beloved Disney+ series did Marvel Studios cancel?
According to a new report, Marvel Studios has reportedly no current plans to produce new episodes of its Marvel Studios: Assembled show. It’s most recent episode debuted last year on November 13, which centered around the making of Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha All Along series. Since then, the studio hasn’t released episodes dedicated to its most recent movie releases this year, Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.
Since its debut in 2021, the anthology series has already released 14 specials for Phase Four, beginning with the acclaimed WandaVision series led by Elizabeth Olsen. Meanwhile, nine specials have already been produced for Phase Five. It currently holds a Popcornmeter rating of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. The show was produced by Kevin Feige, Brad Winderbaum, and Louis D’Esposito.
“Assembled is a comprehensive series of documentary-style specials streaming on Disney+ that chronicles the creation of Marvel Studios’ thrilling new shows and theatrical releases,” reads the show’s original synopsis. “Journey behind-the-scenes of productions such as WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Loki. It is an immersive, and in-depth examination of the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
