Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe on What Role He Wants to Play in Reboot Series

With HBO’s Harry Potter reboot series steadily moving forward with its casting process, Daniel Radcliffe, who portrayed the titular character in the big-screen adaptations of JK Rowling’s works, has revealed the character he would like to play in the upcoming show. While his tenure as the boy who lived came to an end with 2011’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Radcliffe has stated that he would prefer to don the mantle of Sirius Black in the franchise’s revival series.

Daniel Radcliffe thinks it’d be fun to play Sirius Black in Harry Potter reboot series

In a recent discussion, Daniel Radcliffe expressed his interest in portraying Sirius Black in the forthcoming Harry Potter reboot series. Nevertheless, the 35-year-old English actor quickly provided a reality check to his interviewee, claiming that it would be impossible to turn such a proposition into reality.

While talking to The Movie Dweeb, Radcliffe noted, “A moving portrait? I am trying to think what is like a fun role that is not too many days. I always thought one of the other great characters in the series is Sirius Black. [He] is obviously super cool.”

Despite his enthusiasm about bringing Harry Potter’s godfather to life in HBO’s forthcoming reboot, Daniel Radcliffe remarked that it wasn’t going to happen, saying, “But I can tell you, there is no world in which I will actually be playing that character, but I will give you the headline of ‘Dan Radcliffe says Sirius Black would be fun to play, but he won’t actually be doing it.'”

In the original films, Gary Oldman was the one who played the part of Sirius Black. The Dark Knight star enacted the shape-shifting wizard in three Harry Potter movies, alongside a brief cameo in the franchise’s final installment. When asked if he would return to HBO’s revival series in an earlier interview, Oldman jokingly stated, “I would bet my money that they will get a whole new cast of people. Maybe in a few years, I could do Dumbledore.”

At the time of writing, the Harry Potter reboot series has yet to receive an official release date from its creators.
